Carter Work Project - Habitat for Humanity in Haiti

For 28 years, Habitat for Humanity has a Jimmy & Rosalyn Carter Work Project. This year's project, Building Hope, 100 Houses for Haiti.

“Like the rest of the world, Rosalynn and I were heartbroken to see the devastation and despair that the earthquake brought onto a country already so impoverished,” said President Carter.

“We have witnessed and been a part of the life-changing work Habitat has done around the world. We are pleased to join Habitat volunteers and the Haitian people to rebuild homes and to bring attention to the ongoing support needed for Haiti’s recovery.”

Eighty to ninety percent of buildings in Leogane, Haiti, were distroyed during the January 12, 2010 earthquack. This project plans on building 500 homes in Leogane.
