Last month 365 recently featured a couple of posts on local famers' markets. Today, another reason why farmer's markets are amazing.


Every Sunday, the Santa Monica Farmers' Market features local, live music. Every artist different - every artist one that exposes the community to music that most would not know of otherwise. Me included.


It only took one Sunday performance for me to know that the Masanga Marimba Ensemble is some of the most fun, upbeat music I will ever enjoy. Masanga plays modern and traditional music from Latin America and Africa on 7 Zimbabewan marimbas. The best part? They encourage everyone to get up and dance, they allow children to come and play the marimbas, and they bring a crowd of people - a community - together in celebration of their music.
